I always miss hearing the shofar when the first day of Rosh Hashana falls on Shabbat, as it will this year. Thankfully, there’s always day two.  In fact, there’s actually an entire month when the shofar blasts –  and awakens us and reminds us to prepare ourselves as the High Holy Days are now just a month away.

This Thursday the month of Elul arrives and we’ll begin our daily shofar blasting.  It’ll happen every morning at 8:45 a.m. at our daily morning gratitude soul boost. Pop in if you’re able, and see what the sound stirs within.

The entire month of Elul we’ll be offering programs and Torah twists that will prepare us for the Holy Day season.  And then…, we’ve got some incredibly exciting and really creative plans in the works for Selichot, tashlich and Sukkot that are sure to WOW you. (don’t worry, we’ll explain everything, even these holidays and rituals, when we reveal our big plans!)

Ron Clark, an inspiring teacher and motivator shared a fascinating idea.  He said “… make sure there are seven things in your life at all times: laughter, family, adventure, good food, challenge, change, and the quest for knowledge. With all of these things, you will grow, enjoy life, and become the type of person you can be proud of.”

We hope that our offerings are filling your lives with most of these essentials. And yes…when we gather again in person someday, we’ll plan to have delicious foods and drinks awaiting your arrival!

Chodesh Tov – we’re wishing you a happy new month of Elul,  and may our journey to the HolyDay season awaken us and provide us with the opportunities to do the worthy work of transformation.

Soulfully yours,

Rabbi Dana Saroken
