Teach at the Soul Center
The Soul Center is transforming Jewish life in Baltimore through innovative experiences in mindfulness, healing, rejuvenation and growth. We are a spiritual start-up, powered by Judaism.
The Alvin & Lois Lapidus Center for Healing & Spirituality, also known as The Soul Center, was established in the summer of 2015 at Beth El Congregation. Rabbi Dana Saroken and a small team of leaders started meeting with community members to talk about bringing a meaningful Judaism into their already busy lives. These soul-based conversations about yearnings and possibilities led the Lapidus family to make a significant investment, allowing the dream of creating a center as an answer to our spiritual cravings to become reality.
The Center offers programs in mindfulness, healing and rejuvenation. Programs are geared toward an adult audience, and vary in modality and frequency. From weekly meditation sits, to immersions in Baltimore’s only progressive mikveh, to cooking classes, The Soul Center offers an accessible experiential way for people to plug in and tune in, to connect to others and themselves.
Are you an experienced and innovative teacher? Does your work align with our mission? Browse through our website to see if your work is kindred with ours. If so, we’d love to hear from you.
Prospective Leader Proposal and Scheduling Process
The Soul Center works with teachers and facilitators who have a deep understanding and level of experience in their field. Usually our leaders have teaching experience, or can demonstrate an ability to design curriculum and hold a group. Often, teachers have an existing student base and/or wide appeal. Topics can be very general or specific but all need to be aligned with our mission.
Your workshop proposal is the primary way to introduce yourself and to pursue the possibility of teaching at the Soul Center. We consider proposals year-round. We receive a large number of proposals each year and unfortunately cannot accept them all. Once the program team reviews your proposal, we will contact you by email.
Program offerings at the Soul Center are selective and chosen based on a number of factors including mission alignment for personal and social change, subject relevance and uniqueness, presenter’s experience, exposure and expertise, as well as space availability and timing. We schedule well in advance, so it could take time for us to have space on the schedule if your proposal is accepted.
